The leadership of the Kebbi State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has commended Governor Dr. Nasir Idris' education reforms, pledging support for his initiatives. Comrade Zaki Sarki, NUT Kebbi Chairman, led a tour of 21 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) to thank members for their support.
"We appreciate Governor Idris' investments in education, including ₦8.9 billion in 120 secondary schools and new 'mega schools'," Sarki said. He highlighted key reforms: 2,000 teachers recruited, salaries raised, and retirement age increased; feeding allowance boosted from ₦350m to ₦450m; and ₦2 billion paid for students' university fees.
Sarki urged teachers to be law-abiding and dedicated, praising the Governor's priorities and digital transformation. "We pray for Allah's guidance for our leader," he said.
Top priorities as NUT Chairman include: teacher welfare, professional development, union unity, education policy reforms, and strategic alliances.
The tour participants commended Education Secretaries of the 21 LGEAs for their support, reaffirming NUT's commitment to collaborative efforts for quality education in Kebbi State.
