Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria – May 17, 2026(Series News Online)- Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah has withdrawn from the Kebbi South Senatorial District primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scheduled for May 18, 2026, citing what he described as interference from “above” in the party’s internal process.
In a letter dated May 17, 2026, addressed to the APC State Chairman in Birnin Kebbi, the senator said credible information indicated that the outcome of the primaries had already been predetermined by directives from outside the normal party structure.
“I am writing to painfully convey my withdrawal from the scheduled primaries of the All Progressives Congress for the Kebbi South Senatorial District,” he stated.
Na’Allah said his decision followed information that “clearly suggests the mind of the party arising from the instructions received from what is described to me as ‘Above’.”
The lawmaker, who represents Kebbi South and served as Deputy Leader of the 8th Senate, said he entered the race at the invitation of his constituents, who contributed to purchase his nomination form.
“I must equally state that I entered the race on the invitation of my constituents who out of their volition contributed money to purchase the membership form for me, and I will be grateful to them for life,” he said.
He noted that instructions given for the conduct of the primaries breached “the established civilised standard of the democratic process.”
“My participation in the said primaries will greatly impede my commitment to the development of our nascent democracy,” Na’Allah added.
The senator recalled spending 14 years building the APC at both state and federal levels as a founding member of the party.
Appealing to his supporters, he urged calm and adherence to the law as they considered the next step.
“Let me end this letter by appealing to all my supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, and collectively we shall take whatever decision that we believe is in the overall interest of our people,” he said.
Na’Allah thanked the party for the opportunities to serve in various capacities, including as Deputy Leader of the 8th Senate.
He copied the letter to the APC National Chairman in Abuja and the Zonal Vice Chairman for the North West Zone in Kaduna.
