By Umar Faruk, Birnin Kebbi

Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State - In a significant development that marks a major political boost for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris on Wednesday received prominent stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) along with hundreds of their supporters who defected to the ruling party in Zuru. The mass defection is seen as a testament to the Governor's inclusive leadership style and people-centered developmental projects across the state.

Among the notable defectors were Alhaji Saleh Gambo, a renowned businessman, and Alhaji Lawali Dagolo, former Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Kebbi State. The defectors cited Governor Idris' fair and inclusive leadership as the reason for their decision to join the APC.

"We are impressed by Governor Idris' leadership style and his commitment to the development of Kebbi State," Alhaji Saleh Gambo said, speaking on behalf of the group. "We pledge our unwavering loyalty to the Governor and promise to work tirelessly for the success of his administration."

Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, who facilitated the defection, noted that the departure of these key figures would significantly weaken the PDP in the Zuru Emirate. "With the departure of these key figures, the PDP in the Zuru Emirate has been significantly weakened and now lacks any credible political leadership," he said.

The APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, warmly welcomed the new members and assured them of equal treatment and full integration into the party. "We welcome you all to the APC family and assure you of equal treatment and full integration into the party," he said.

The defection is a significant boost to the APC's political fortunes in Kebbi State, coming at a time when the party is working to consolidate its position ahead of future elections. Governor Idris' leadership style and developmental projects have been widely praised by residents of the state, and the defection of prominent PDP stalwarts is seen as a further endorsement of his administration's efforts.
