Kebbi State's Livestock Sector Gets Boost as FACAN Endorses Indonesia Partnership

The Federation of Agricultural Commodities Association of Nigeria (FACAN) Kebbi State Unit has expressed enthusiasm about the livestock development partnership between the Kebbi State government and Indonesia. Alh Muhammad Hakimi Jiga Sarkin Noma, State Coordinator of FACAN, believes this partnership will revolutionize the livestock sector in Kebbi State.

The Kebbi-Indonesia initiative, facilitated by Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, is a strategic move to accelerate economic diversification and create sustainable income and employment opportunities for youths and women groups across the state. This partnership aims to modernize the livestock sector through artificial insemination, smart livestock and dairy production, as well as other value addition activities for enhanced output.

The Coordinator urges both conventional and home-based cattle breeders to seize the opportunities offered by the partnership to promote their investments. FACAN is optimistic that this partnership will enable Kebbi State to transition from being the second-largest producer of livestock after Yobe State to becoming the preferred hub for livestock development and marketing within and outside the country.

The partnership is part of the state government's efforts to improve livestock production, as highlighted in the Ministry of Animal Health, Fisheries & Husbandry's brief . The ministry aims to improve livestock and fisheries production through effective healthcare delivery services and disease control.

Kebbi State's livestock sector is poised for significant growth, thanks to the partnership with Indonesia. With the state's vast livestock resources and potentials for meat/milk production, this partnership is expected to enhance the productivity of local breeds of animals.
