KANO INDIGENE EMERGES OVERALL WINNER OF 39TH NATIONAL QUR'AN RECITATION COMPETITION

Birnin Kebbi - Buhari Sanusi Idris, a memorizer of the Glorious Qur'an from Kano State, has emerged as the overall winner of the 39th edition of the National Qur'an Recitation Competition, which concluded in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

Buhari took the top spot in the Apex category, which involves memorizing the entire Qur'an and demonstrating different modes of recitation. He was honored with the title of 'GWARZON SHEKARA' (Hero of the Year) by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, who was assisted by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar.

As part of his prize, Buhari received a brand new car, N500,000 cash for fuel, a Plasma Television, and a Hajj seat. In the female category, Rumaisa'u Dahiru Ibrahim from Gombe State clinched first position in the senior recitation category and was conferred with the title of 'GWARZUWAR SHEKARA' (Heroine of the Year) by the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris.
