By Umar Faruk

Veteran journalist Garba Muhammad, Regional Editor (North) of News Express, has been cleared to contest the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) presidency. He's joined by Al-Hassan Abdullahi Yahya of Gombe State Media Corporation and Dele Atunbi of Nigerian Television Authority, Abuja.

The trio will face off at the 8th Triennial Delegates' Conference in Owerri from November 26-28. The winner will succeed outgoing President Chief Chris Isiguzoro.

Garba Muhammad boasts over 30 years of experience, championing press freedom and journalists' welfare. As an independent candidate, supporters believe he'll fearlessly advocate for journalists' rights.

The Credentials Committee's clearance sets the stage for a competitive election, with journalists' welfare and press freedom at the forefront.
