Bauchi, May 23, 2026,(Series News Online)— Loyalists of Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents Bauchi South, have declared unwavering support for his 2027 governorship ambition and pledged to follow him to any political party he chooses.
The declaration was made on Saturday during a solidarity rally organised by the Mujaddadi Kafar Kafarmu Group at Pali Suites in Bauchi.
Chairman of the group, Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad Modibbo, said members had resolved to ask the senator to quit the All Progressives Congress and seek the Bauchi governorship on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party.
“We have collectively resolved to urge Senator Shehu Buba to leave the APC and join the PRP to actualise his governorship ambition in Bauchi State,” Modibbo said.
He described Senator Buba as the most qualified contender among all aspirants vying for the governorship seat in 2027.
“Senator Buba is the most competent and suitable aspirant among those seeking the governorship position in Bauchi State,” he said.
Modibbo recalled that the senator had earlier pulled out of the APC governorship contest over alleged plots to subvert the primary process.
“Senator Buba withdrew from the APC governorship race over alleged plans to manipulate the party’s primary process through imposition of a candidate instead of conducting a free, fair, and transparent election,” he said.
He alleged that since the withdrawal, many supporters had accused some APC stakeholders in Bauchi State of working against the senator’s ambition ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Since the senator’s withdrawal from the race, many of his supporters have continued to accuse some APC stakeholders in Bauchi State of allegedly working against his governorship aspiration ahead of the 2027 elections,” Modibbo said.
The group’s chairman insisted that Senator Buba remained the most credible option to lead the state, citing his record in public service.
“Senator Buba remains the most credible candidate to govern Bauchi State, considering his contributions to youth empowerment, women support programmes, job creation, education, and healthcare since becoming the senator representing Bauchi South,” he said.
He argued that Bauchi State would benefit significantly if Senator Buba became governor in 2027.
“The people of the state stand to benefit greatly if Senator Buba eventually emerges as governor in 2027,” Modibbo said.
Modibbo added that the group would launch statewide mobilisation to secure victory for the senator at the polls.
“We pledge to mobilise massive support for the senator across the state to ensure his victory at the polls,” he said.
He also called on women and youths to educate the public on the need to vote for a capable and people focused leader.
“We urge women and youths to sensitize the public on the need to elect a capable and people oriented leader,” he said.
Also speaking at the rally, leader of the women’s wing of the Mujaddadi Kafar Kafarmu Group, Ummi Aliyu, said members were set to deepen grassroots mobilisation for Senator Buba.
“Members of the group are fully prepared to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of Senator Buba,” Aliyu said.
She maintained that voters should prioritise competence and credibility over party loyalty in 2027.
“The time has come for the people to look beyond party affiliations and support a candidate based on competence, credibility, and leadership qualities,” she said.
