Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has applauded the Minister of Health for establishing the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) zonal office in the state. The governor expressed his gratitude while presenting a certificate of occupancy to the state NHIA office at the Government House chamber in Birnin Kebbi.
Dr. Idris pledged his administration's support for the organization's full operations in the state, noting that the establishment of the zonal office is a significant achievement for the people of Kebbi. "We view this new development as an achievement to the entire people of the state as regards to health issues," he said. "Any development that has to do with health is a welcome development, and we take it very seriously and importantly."
The governor also thanked the Honourable Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, and the entire management of NHIA for considering Kebbi State worthy of hosting the zonal office. He noted that the establishment of the office is a testament to the state's progress in the health sector. Dr. Idris emphasized the importance of health insurance schemes, stating that they have a direct bearing on the common man, particularly those at the grassroots.
After the courtesy visit, the governor presented a certificate of occupancy to the state NHIA office and assured the management of his administration's support for the electrification of the newly constructed office. Alhaji Isah Dahiru, who represented the state coordinator, appreciated the governor's gesture and promised to continue providing maximum support for health insurance to the people of the state.
During the occasion, the governor also inaugurated the Board of the Kebbi State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA). He announced that the government has digitalized the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy through KEBGIS. "Those seeking Certificate of Occupancy or in need of Recertification must go through KEBGIS and no longer through the Ministry of Lands," he said.
The 16-member KIPA Board is chaired by Alhaji Muhammadu Lawal Audi, with Barrister Zainab Muhammadu Jabbo as Legal Adviser/Secretary. The Director-General of the Agency, Dr. Kabir Muhammad Kamba, is also a member of the board, along with commissioners for various ministries. The governor described KIPA as being of paramount importance, tasked with attracting investments into Kebbi State for social and economic prosperity.
