The Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, has made significant strides in various sectors, including infrastructure development, education, human development, and special duties. In the past two years, the administration has implemented numerous projects and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Kebbi State citizens.
One of the major achievements of the administration is the completion of the State Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex at Gwadangaji, which cost over ₦10 billion. Other notable projects include the dualization of the Birnin Kebbi - Ambursa road at ₦5.6 billion, the construction and rehabilitation of Birnin Kebbi city centre roads for ₦12.9 billion, and the construction of the Birnin Kebbi Ultra-Modern Motor Park at ₦2.9 billion.
Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim, praised Governor Idris' insistence on quality execution by experienced contractors. "The Governor's commitment to quality infrastructure development is evident in the projects we've completed and those ongoing," he said.
Education has been a cornerstone of Governor Idris' administration, with significant investments in school construction, renovation, and teacher training. The administration has recruited 2,000 qualified teachers and increased school feeding allocations from ₦175 million to ₦300 million.
Comrade Isah Suleiman Libata, President of NUKESS, commended the Governor for his dedication to students' welfare. "The Governor's commitment to education is evident in the scholarships and support provided to students," he said.
The administration has championed youths and women empowerment through financial support and capacity building. In 2023, ₦6.5 billion was disbursed to 65,000 individuals under the "Kaura Cares" Livelihood Support Programme, with each receiving ₦100,000.
The Ministry for Special Duties was created to support vulnerable members of society. In 2024, the Ministry disbursed ₦100,000 each to 3,210 persons with disabilities to support small business ventures and reduce street begging. It also distributed 150 tricycles to persons with disabilities and 50 motorcycles to other disadvantaged individuals.
Overall, Governor Idris' administration has made significant progress in various sectors, and the people of Kebbi State are benefiting from the initiatives and projects implemented.
