The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, has called on Nigerians to remain united and fervently pray for leaders at all levels, stressing that patriotism, vigilance, and optimism are vital to the nation’s progress. In his goodwill message to mark Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary, Sulaiman said the country has recorded remarkable transformations since independence, but greater efforts are still needed to strengthen security and the economy to attract investment.

"Our beloved Nigeria has been a shining light in Africa, inspiring many nations," he said. "While celebrating 65 years of independence, we must acknowledge the progress made but also recognise the urgent need for more work on security and the economy." Sulaiman emphasized the importance of citizens desisting from unethical conduct and remaining good ambassadors of their families, communities, and states.

The Speaker commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his transformational leadership, impactful projects, and contributions toward unity and national development, describing him as "a voice of the voiceless" whose style should be emulated by other leaders. He also paid tribute to Nigeria's heroes who sacrificed for the nation's freedom, emphasizing the need for tolerance and cooperation to ensure peaceful coexistence and economic prosperity.

"Our differences are destined by God," Sulaiman said. "We must therefore embrace tolerance and cooperation to ensure peaceful coexistence and economic prosperity." He urged Nigerians to pool their ideas and resources to uplift living standards, stressing that prioritizing health, education, agriculture, security, and infrastructure remains key to making the country conducive for both citizens and foreigners.

The Speaker prayed for the nation to overcome its challenges and for leaders to surpass expectations in delivering development that improves lives across all regions. He expressed optimism that with unity, patriotism, and collective effort, Nigeria would continue to progress and prosper.
