"Water Revival: Senator Buba’s Intervention Brings Relief to Bauchi Residents"

Residents of Unity Estate in Bauchi metropolis have regained access to clean and affordable water after years of scarcity, thanks to the intervention of Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, in collaboration with Halaty Community Development Initiative (HCDI). The breakdown of the estate's main borehole had forced families to depend on costly water vendors and unsafe alternatives, endangering health, hygiene, and children's welfare.

Concerned by the hardship, HCDI mobilized community members and presented the issue to Senator Buba, who promptly directed the repair of the facility. The intervention brought in engineers to restore the borehole system, ensuring a steady water supply across the estate. Speaking to journalists, the Secretary of the Unity Estate Residents Association, Mr. Temidayo, described the development as a huge relief.

"Water is life, and without it, life in this estate has become very difficult," Mr. Temidayo said. "Many of us were struggling to provide water for our families daily. With this intervention, things have improved, and we are deeply grateful."

Women in the estate expressed appreciation to the Senator, with Hajiya Rashida Yusuf stating, "Before now, I woke up before dawn to fetch water or buy from vendors at high cost. Now, with water restored, life is easier for our families. We are grateful to those who made it possible."

Another resident, Mrs. Gladys Michael, added, "It was the women who suffered most. We had to wake early, walk long distances, and still spend money we didn't have. With this water restored, our lives are easier, and our children are healthier."

Development experts have commended the initiative, noting that the restoration of clean water in Unity Estate supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation, SDG 3 on good health, SDG 4 on quality education, and SDG 1 on poverty reduction.

The intervention has brought relief to the residents of Unity Estate, who can now access clean water without the burden of high costs or long distances. The Senator's initiative has demonstrated his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

In a statement, Senator Buba said, "We are committed to ensuring that our constituents have access to basic necessities like clean water. We will continue to work with community development initiatives to improve the lives of our people."
