Bauchi, Bauchi State, Nigeria - August 28, 2025(Series News Online)

The Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has reiterated his support for the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South. In a statement on Tuesday, Governor Mohammed described the move as a step toward unity, fairness, and democratic progress.

Speaking to journalists in Bauchi shortly after returning from Abuja, where the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) ratified the zoning formula, Governor Mohammed announced that he had withdrawn his presidential ambition in the interest of party cohesion. "I am very satisfied with the resolution because I was part of the process, from the arrangement, the strategy, to the delivery. It is an all-inclusive decision," he said.

The Governor emphasized that politics should not be driven by personal ambition but by service, sacrifice, and national development. "Nigerians should know that politics is not about self-interest. Everything is predicated on sacrifice. We must live and let live, respect each other, and remember that power comes from God," he added.

Mohammed stressed that his priority was ensuring the PDP emerged victorious in 2027 by fielding credible candidates capable of winning elections. "What matters most to me is unity, peace, and the sustenance of democracy in our party and in Nigeria. I believe it is time to give the South a chance, for the sake of justice and democratic progress," he stated.

The Governor also confirmed that the PDP NEC had resolved to sustain the existing zoning formula for party offices, affirming that the presidential ticket would remain in the South. He announced that the party's next meetings would be held on October 15 and November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mohammed urged all party members to remain loyal and united, embracing the zoning decision with strength and resolve. "Let us work together to ensure the PDP emerges victorious in 2027," he said.
