"2027 Governorship: Bauchi South Coalition Throws Weight Behind Senator Shehu"

A coalition of Bauchi South constituents has formally urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State to consider Senator Shehu Buba Umar for the governorship in 2027. The group, known as the Shehu Buba Organisation (SBO), staged a peaceful rally to the APC State Party Secretariat, submitting their demand through official party channels.

The SBO Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Baba Ahmad, emphasized that the initiative is a non-partisan and non-campaigning appeal, reflecting the collective aspirations of Bauchi South residents for "steady, principled, and people-centered leadership capable of driving inclusive growth, security, and good governance." "This is not a campaign or endorsement. It is a civic expression of our people's genuine aspirations," Baba Ahmad stated.

"We want the party leadership to note that the people of Bauchi South unanimously call on Senator Shehu Buba, Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, to consider the governorship path," he added. Baba Ahmad highlighted Senator Buba's remarkable performance in the National Assembly, describing it as "remarkable, impactful, and people-driven."

Comrade Sabo Muhammad, Special Adviser on Media and Communication to Senator Buba, praised the Senator's commitment and visibility, which he believes has kept the party alive after its setback in 2023. "Senator Buba has consistently carried the party membership across all senatorial districts. If he gets the governorship ticket, the PDP will be history in Bauchi," Muhammad declared.

The APC Chairman in Bauchi State, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde, received the SBO and assured them that the party would provide a level playing ground for all aspirants in the forthcoming primaries. "We will ensure that qualified candidates emerge to represent the party at the polls in 2027," Tilde said.

The coalition's call for Senator Buba to consider the governorship path comes amid growing support for the Senator across Bauchi State. In June, APC stakeholders from Bauchi Central Senatorial District began mobilizing support for Senator Buba's potential governorship bid, praising his philanthropic gestures and efforts to promote party unity.

As the APC prepares for the 2027 primaries, the party's leadership will likely consider various factors, including the candidates' track records, popularity, and ability to unite the party and the state. Senator Buba's growing influence and reputation as a leader could make him a strong contender for the governorship ticket.
