Federal Govt Bolsters Kebbi Security with Deployment of 4 Armoured Personnel Carriers

 In a bid to fortify security measures, the Federal Government has initiated the deployment of four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to Kebbi State, aimed at curbing banditry and augmenting overall security operations.

The ceremonial presentation of these vehicles took place at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, where Governor Nasir Idris took the opportunity to inspect the APCs alongside Lt. Colonel M.S. Saleh, Commanding Officer of 223 Light Tank Battalion, Zuru, and Major A.P. Azubuine, Commanding Officer of 1 Battalion Rear, Birnin Kebbi.

 Expressing his appreciation during the inspection, Governor Idris remarked, "The deployment of this military hardware is a welcome development, particularly for our vulnerable local government areas, as it will enable security forces to effectively counter bandit threats." He underscored the pivotal role this move would play in enhancing the capabilities of security personnel to tackle bandits and reestablish peace.

 Reaffirming his administration's stance, Governor Idris stated, "We extend our sincere gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff for provisioning these armoured vehicles to reinforce security operations. Our administration remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting security agencies in achieving operational success."

 The Governor also conveyed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and top security officials, noting, "The efforts of the military in combating banditry have been met with immense gratitude from our communities. We urge residents in affected regions to collaborate with security forces by furnishing timely and actionable intelligence to facilitate ongoing operations. Additionally, we pay tribute to our fallen heroes and continue to support their families to ensure their well-being."

 Lt. Colonel M.S. Saleh acknowledged the support from the Military High Command, stating, "Our mission to surmount security challenges is an around-the-clock endeavour, and we seek the public's cooperation in sharing vital intelligence on bandit and criminal activities."

 Major A.P. Azubuine formally presented two of the APCs to Governor Idris, symbolizing the Nigerian Army's enhanced logistical support to the state.
