Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has dismissed rumors of his alleged defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC), vowing that APC is his home and he will never leave; he also stated he will be the last man standing in the party. The Governor made this declaration while addressing hundreds of APC stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi shortly after the conclusion of the May Day celebration.
Governor Nasir stated that he was elated with the turn of events, as all those who spoke at the gathering strongly countered the report that appeared to be from a grapevine. "I have the belief and conviction that APC has done everything for me, and I have no moral justification whatsoever to even think of leaving the party," he said. "I will, Insha Allah, be the last man to remain standing in my great party, the APC."
The Governor attributed the malicious reports to mischief makers who are not happy with the myriad of developmental projects his administration has brought to the people of Kebbi State. He declared, "They are people who are not happy with the developmental projects that our administration has brought to the people of Kebbi State."
Dr. Idris emphasized that the gathering, which included the who's who of the state, had spoken and condemned the report. "We have not sat down anywhere and discussed or even dreamt of changing our party," he said. "We will never change our party. Both our administration and the Federal Government have done everything, and our people are happy."
The Governor expressed confidence in his administration's performance, saying, "We are taking the people along, and that is the apprehension of some people." He also vowed to sustain his robust and mutual relationship to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying, "Kebbi State is for APC, and it's for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and myself."
Earlier, the Kebbi State APC Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana, reaffirmed the party's support for the Governor, saying that the state will continue to flourish under the ruling APC administration of Governor Nasir Idris. "The APC in Kebbi and the entire population are satisfied about the excellent performance of Governor Nasir Idris at the state level and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Federal level," Kana said.
Several other APC leaders, including the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly and other government officials, also spoke at the stakeholders' meeting, reaffirming their support for President Tinubu and Governor Idris.
