"Inspirational Leadership Award: TWG on GBV Congratulates Kebbi First Lady"

The Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence (TWG on GBV) Kebbi State has congratulated the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajia Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, on her remarkable achievement in receiving the Inspirational Leadership on Grassroots Development Award at the 2025 International Women's Day Conference held in Dakar, Senegal.

In a statement signed by Comrade Nasiru Idris, Secretary of the TWG on GBV, the group acknowledged the First Lady's dedication to empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups through her initiative, the Nasara Women Development Foundation. "This recognition truly reflects Her Excellency's dedication to empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups through her laudable initiative, the Nasara Women Development Foundation," the statement read.

As Chairperson of the TWG on GBV, the First Lady's leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the group's activities, policies, and interventions in fighting gender-based violence across Kebbi State. "Her Excellency's leadership has been instrumental in strengthening our activities, policies, and interventions in fighting gender-based violence across Kebbi State," Comrade Idris said.

The TWG on GBV particularly appreciated the First Lady's role in establishing and operationalizing the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at Kalgo, which has become a sanctuary of hope and healing for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. "This centre has become a sanctuary of hope and healing for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, providing comprehensive support services that many citizens of Kebbi State are now benefiting from," the statement noted.

The group reaffirmed its total support for the First Lady, working together towards a society free from gender-based violence. "We join numerous others in congratulating Her Excellency and reaffirming our total support as we continue to work together towards a society free from gender-based violence," Comrade Idris said.

The TWG on GBV congratulated the First Lady on this well-deserved honour, praying that her passion for grassroots development and empowerment would continue to flourish and inspire many more across Kebbi State, Nigeria, and beyond.
