Alh Abubakar Malam Shettiman Gwandu, the newly appointed Managing Director of Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, has called for cooperation and support from individuals and organizations to enable the new management team achieve its objectives. Speaking after receiving his appointment letter, Gwandu prayed for God's guidance and blessings, expressing appreciation for Kebbi State Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for their commitment to his appointment.
Gwandu assured farmers and stakeholders in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara states that the new management will focus on restoring core activities, including prudent water management, enhanced irrigation, poverty reduction, and rural development. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with farming clusters, local and state governments, and stakeholders in the agricultural value chain to achieve success in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The new Managing Director also solicited valuable inputs from individuals, public and private sector organizations to inform his developmental blueprints, particularly in areas like water management, climate-smart agriculture, and poverty reduction strategies. "As a formidable team, myself and Executive Directors are armed with vast experiences, and the task ahead of us must be accomplished satisfactorily," Gwandu reiterated.
Established in 1976, the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority covers Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara states, with a core mandate to promote food production, poverty reduction, and accelerated rural economic progress. Gwandu assured that the new management will make the Authority a success story, appreciating President Tinubu, the Minister of Water Resources, and governors of the covered states for the confidence reposed in them.
