In a gesture aimed at alleviating hardship and promoting unity, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has distributed N75 million to Christian constituents in Kaduna to celebrate Christmas.
The funds were donated to various Christian denominations across seven local government areas, including Chikun, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Giwa, Birnin Gwari, Kajuru, and Igabi.
According to Senator Usman, the gesture is intended to support his "brothers and sisters in Christ" during the festive season, considering the prevailing hardships faced by citizens across the country.
Senator Usman emphasized the importance of unity among Muslims and Christians, urging them to shun sentiments and work together to achieve decent living standards and a good life in the country. He stressed that the era of religious divide and rancor is over, as Islam and Christianity share similarities and historical narratives.
Notable figures in attendance included People's Democratic Party Zonal Secretary Honourable Hussaini Garba, State Secretary Honourable Sa'idu Adamu, and Public Relations Officer Maria Dogo.
Senator Usman's efforts to promote unity and support his constituents during the festive season are noteworthy, especially given the prevailing hardships faced by citizens across the country.
Maria Samuel Dogo, in her remarks, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Senator Usman for his generosity, describing his role as remarkable.
