Bauchi, Nigeria, May 02, 2026(Series News Online)-Senator Shehu Buba Umar of Bauchi South Senatorial District has empowered 188 constituents with Hunter Hero motorcycles and cash support as appreciation for their role in his 2023 electoral victory.
The beneficiaries, selected from the seven local government areas of Bauchi, Toro, Alkaleri, Tafawa Balewa, Kirfi, Dass, and Bogoro, each received a motorcycle and N20,000 for fuel and maintenance.
Speaking at the empowerment event held on Thursday at Pali Hotel, Bauchi, Senator Buba said the intervention was to reward loyal grassroots supporters and deepen political engagement at the community level.
“This gesture is aimed at rewarding grassroots and loyal supporters and encouraging continued grassroots engagement,” the senator said.
He was represented at the event by Abdulkadir Lawal Gyengyen, who stated that the programme formed part of the senator’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents and fostering development across the senatorial district.
“The initiative is part of his ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of his constituents and contribute to the development of his constituency,” Gyengyen said.
He assured that the motorcycle distribution was one of several interventions undertaken by the senator, with more projects in the pipeline.
“The empowerment programme is only one of several interventions he has undertaken, and more initiatives are underway,” he added.
Senator Buba also used the occasion to declare his interest in contesting the Bauchi State governorship in 2027, and solicited continued support from the people.
“The senator also disclosed his intention to contest the Bauchi State governorship seat in the 2027 elections, appealing for sustained support from constituents to enable him to expand development efforts across the state,” Gyengyen said.
Gyengyen, who doubles as chairman of the distribution committee, described Senator Buba as a lawmaker dedicated to the wellbeing of his people.
The Bauchi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammad Hassan Tilde, lauded the empowerment drive and called on other elected officials to replicate such gestures.
“I commend the senator for the initiative and urge other political office holders to emulate such efforts in serving the people,” Tilde said.
He further stressed the importance of voter registration ahead of future elections.
“Possession of a valid voter card remains the only means of participating in elections,” he stated.
Tilde announced that the party’s website was open to accommodate new members wishing to join the APC in the state.

Also speaking, Hussaini Baba praised the senator’s performance at the National Assembly, describing his representation as effective and impactful.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Baba Sarkin Fawa expressed gratitude for the support, saying the constituents were satisfied with the senator’s performance.
“We have no regrets supporting Senator Buba, given his contributions to our welfare,” Sarkin Fawa said.
He pledged that beneficiaries would rally behind the senator’s future political ambitions.
“We will mobilise towards his future political ambition,” he said.
Another beneficiary, Munkaila Zakka from Bogoro, described the empowerment as the fulfilment of campaign promises.
“This empowerment is a fulfillment of campaign promises,” Zakka said.
He reaffirmed their commitment to back the senator in the 2027 elections.
“We are ready to support the senator in the 2027 elections,” he added.
