The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has concluded its House of Representatives primaries across Bauchi State, presenting 12 candidates to contest the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, was supervised by the party’s House of Representatives Primary Election Committee for Bauchi State under the chairmanship of Alhaji Ali Ibrahim.
Ibrahim said the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP set up the committee to oversee a transparent and credible process in all 12 federal constituencies of the state.
He explained that aspirants who scaled the screening and clearance by the NWC were presented to delegates for affirmation, in accordance with the party’s constitution and the 2026 electoral guidelines.
At the end of the process, delegates endorsed the candidates through a unanimous voice vote.
For Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency, Khalid Barau Ningi emerged as the party’s flag bearer. Zahradeen Aminu Abubakar was affirmed for Shira/Giade, while Hussaini A. Umar secured Toro. Abubakar Usman will fly the PDP flag in Ganjuwa/Darazo.
Idris Yusuf Duguri was confirmed for Alkaleri/Kirfi, Abdullahi Musa Tela for Zaki, and Shehu Yakubu for Jama’are/Itas-Gadau. Ahmad Muhammad Dambam will represent Misau/Dambam, while Muhammad Garba Dogo got the nod for Katagum.
Gamawa Federal Constituency will be represented by Isah Mohammed Wabu. In Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro, Maryam Garba Bagel emerged as the candidate, and Aliyu Abdullahi was affirmed for Bauchi Federal Constituency.
Congratulating the candidates, Ibrahim urged them to remain focused and work toward victory in 2027. He also thanked the PDP leadership for entrusting him and other committee members with the responsibility of conducting the primaries.
