Kebbi Mourns: Gov Idris Grieves Death of Speaker Zuru

Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria, April 07, 2026(Series News Online) - Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the passing of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, who died on Monday, April 6, 2026, in a Cairo, Egypt hospital.

In a condolence message, Governor Idris described the late Speaker's death as "a tragic and monumental loss to Kebbi State and the entire nation at large". "I am devastated by the loss of a trusted ally, a committed lawmaker, and an outstanding leader whose devotion to duty, humility, wisdom, and dedication to the service of Kebbi State distinguished him as a true patriot," Governor Idris said.

The Governor recalled the late Speaker's calm disposition, maturity in handling state affairs, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Kebbi. "He was a pillar of legislative stability and democratic governance, as well as a dependable partner in the collective effort to advance the development of Kebbi State," he said.

Governor Idris prayed for the late Speaker's soul to rest in peace, saying "May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the Kebbi State House of Assembly, the people of Zuru Emirate, and the entire people of Kebbi state the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss."

The late Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, born on April 5, 1970, is survived by his wife and five children.
