Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria, April 07,2026(Series News Online)- The passing of Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru has sent shockwaves across Kebbi State, leaving behind a trail of grief and introspection. "What does it truly mean to serve?" is the question that lingers in the air, as the state comes to terms with the loss of a leader who embodied restraint, humility, and a deep commitment to public service.
As Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Ankwai, as he was fondly known, was more than just a presiding officer. He was a stabilizing conscience, a man who brought order to chaos and balance to competing interests. "He did not merely preside over debates; he curated order from potential chaos, balancing competing interests with the quiet authority of a man who understood that leadership is less about dominance and more about stewardship," a eulogy notes.
Governor Dr. Nasir Idris has lost a brother, a partner, and a political soul mate. "Together with the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, they formed a formidable team of two committed patriots whose love for Kebbi and its people was intense," the statement reads. The Governor's tribute speaks volumes about the late speaker's character and leadership.
Ankwai's legacy is a testament to the power of quiet leadership.
