The Kebbi State Government has constituted a special committee to investigate the death of two children at General Hospital, Zuru. The committee, approved by Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, will probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"The committee is composed of the Hon. Commissioner for Information Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK as Chairman, the Hon. Commissioner for Health Alhaji Sama’ila Augie and the Hon. Commissioner for Establishment Alhaji Manu Dogondaji as Members," said Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida in a statement.
The committee's terms of reference include investigating the remote and immediate probable causes of the death of the two children, identifying those connected with the incident, and making recommendations to prevent future occurrences. "The committee has been given one week to submit its report and has been directed to commence work immediately without delay," Tafida said.
The investigation follows allegations that the children, from the same father, died after receiving a wrongful injection at the hospital. The committee is expected to apportion blame where necessary and suggest measures to avert similar incidents in the future.
