Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria, May 29, 2026(Series News Online)— The National Orientation Agency, Kebbi State Directorate, has congratulated Governor Nasir Idris on his third year in office, commending his administration’s socio-economic reforms while calling for urgent dialogue on workers’ concerns over the N75,000 minimum wage implementation.
The felicitation was contained in a press statement issued Friday in Birnin Kebbi by the NOA State Director, Muhammed Nasir Karofi.
Karofi lauded the governor for what he described as visible transformation across the state since assuming office.
“The State Director of NOA, Muhammed Nasir Karofi, lauded the Governor for steering the state toward visible and laudable socio-economic transformation,” the statement read.
He cited urban renewal, healthcare delivery, education, and agricultural development as sectors with unprecedented progress under Governor Idris.
“Reviewing the milestones of the administration, the State Director remarked that Kebbi State has witnessed unprecedented development, particularly in the critical sectors of urban renewal, healthcare delivery, education, and agricultural development,” Karofi said.
The NOA director also addressed public views on the governor’s leadership style, describing his benevolence as a strength rather than a weakness.
“Addressing public perceptions of the administration’s governance style, Karofi noted that the Governor’s widely recognized benevolence which some quarters have occasionally critiqued as excessive is, in reality, a profound leadership strength,” the statement noted.
Karofi defended the governor’s approach to welfare and public engagement.
“The true essence of government is to make people happy,” Karofi stated.
“The Governor’s generosity has served as a vital cushion against hardship for the vulnerable in our society. It has fostered an environment where ordinary citizens genuinely pray to encounter their leader, knowing they will experience his goodness firsthand,” he added.
While praising the administration’s achievements, the NOA urged the governor to intervene in growing unease among civil servants over the implementation of the new N75,000 minimum wage.
“While celebrating these visible achievements, the NOA State Director also offered constructive counsel to the Governor, urging him to proactively address emerging undercurrents of dissatisfaction regarding the implementation of the N75,000 new minimum wage,” the release said.
Karofi advised the governor to verify the actual situation within the workforce to prevent distrust between government and labour.
“I urge His Excellency to investigate the current disenchantment making the rounds among the workforce regarding the minimum wage implementation,” Karofi counseled.
“It is vital that there is no room for misgiving; the Governor needs to know the absolute truth of the situation on the ground,” he said.
He stressed the need for alignment between the administration’s pronouncements and workers’ expectations.
“The administration should ensure that moving forward, whenever the Governor speaks on this issue, his remarks receive the total endorsement and trust of the workers,” Karofi said.
“We must avoid situations where official statements do not go down well with the labour force. Aligning with the workers will only strengthen the administration’s support base,” he added.
Karofi said his advice was motivated by goodwill and a desire to see the administration succeed.
“Closing his message, the State Director reiterated that his counsel stems from a position of deep respect and goodwill, expressing an earnest desire to see the administration succeed completely,” the statement said.
“It is my sincere wish to see the Governor succeed in cementing a remarkable and enduring legacy within the lifetime of this administration,” Karofi concluded.
