Kebbi Governor Mourns 9 Soldiers, 1 Policeman Killed in Lukuwa Ambush

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has visited the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, to pay his respects to the soldiers killed in the Lukuwa gunmen ambush in Giro Masa, Shanga Local Government Area.

The governor expressed his sadness over the incident, condemning the killing of security personnel who were protecting lives and properties of our people. "I sympathise with the families of the military officers and that of police who were killed in the course of serving the nation," he said.

Dr. Idris was received by the head of clinical services of the hospital, Dr. Ashiru Ladan, who took him on a tour of the mortuary where the bodies of the soldiers were laid. The governor also visited the Accident and Emergency ward, where two injured soldiers were receiving treatment.

The attack, which occurred on Tuesday night, resulted in the deaths of 9  soldiers and one police. The Lukuwa gunmen also set ablaze two gun trucks belonging to the soldiers.

The government of Kebbi State has pledged to continue supporting security efforts. "As a government, we offer our condolences to the military and police authorities for the loss of their men in the course of their official duties," the governor said.
