Giro Masa, Shanga Local Government Area, Kebbi State - Suspected Lukuwa gunmen have killed several military officers and civilians in an ambush in Giro Masa community, leaving residents in fear and panic.
According to sources, the Lukuwa gunmen had been evading the community and its environs but were tracked by security personnel to a construction company yard. As community members alerted authorities, soldiers were dispatched to rescue the area but were ambushed by the gunmen on their way.
The attack, which occurred on Monday night, resulted in the deaths of several military officers and two community members. The Lukuwa gunmen also reportedly set ablaze two gun trucks belonging to the soldiers.
Residents, who spoke anonymously, described the scene as chaotic, with people panicking and fea
ring for their lives. "Lakuwa came to our village, moving towards the construction company yard. We alerted security personnel, but they were ambushed," one resident said.
As of press time, no official statement had been issued by concerned authorities regarding the incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
