A prominent PDP woman leader, Hajiya Mariya, Mariya Waziri, has switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing Governor Nasir Idris' exemplary leadership.

Mariya Waziri, accompanied by thousands of her supporters, was formally welcomed into the APC fold by the party's state chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Monday. "My decision to join the ruling party is driven by Governor Idris' purposeful and people-oriented leadership, which has brought remarkable growth, development, and improved living standards to Kebbi State," she said.
Mariya Waziri, who has been a stalwart of the PDP for over 20 years, expressed admiration for Governor Idris' achievements, particularly in infrastructure development and welfare enhancement. "I could no longer ignore the tremendous progress made by this administration, and I felt compelled to join the APC to contribute to the consolidation of these successes," she added.

APC State Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru hailed Mariya Waziri's decision as "bold and courageous," assuring her and her supporters of equal rights and opportunities within the party. "There will be no distinction between old and new members; you are all valued members of the APC family," he said.
Governor Nasir Idris welcomed Mariya Waziri, describing her as a prominent and influential woman politician. "Democracy is about service and commitment to the welfare of the people, and my administration has fulfilled over 90 percent of its campaign promises," he said, adding that Mariya Waziri's decision was a recognition of these achievements.

The Governor assured Mariya Waziri of full integration into the party and pledged to involve her in development initiatives, guaranteeing her equal treatment and rights within the APC.
