Kogi Police Command Commissions New Outposts to Strengthen Security

The Kogi State Police Command has commissioned two newly constructed Police Outposts in Lokoja, aimed at bolstering security and enhancing community policing in the state. The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, commissioned the outposts, which are located at Adankolo area under 'A' Division and Zango area under 'D' Division.

According to a press release from the Kogi State Police Command, the projects were executed by the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, as part of efforts to deepen effective policing and expand police presence across communities.

"The establishment of these outposts followed concerns raised by members of the communities during a strategic stakeholders' meeting," said CP Kankarofi. "Residents highlighted the absence of police formations and the attendant security challenges. We assured them of prompt intervention, and today, we have fulfilled that commitment."

The construction and completion of the outposts were carried out through internal coordination within the Command, with technical supervision provided by CSP Ahmadu Victor, Officer-in-Charge, Works Department, Kogi State Command.

"These outposts are not just physical structures, but a reflection of our commitment to listening to the people and responding to their security concerns," CP Kankarofi emphasized. "Sustainable security can only be achieved through cooperation between the Police and the communities."

The Commissioner charged officers posted to the new outposts to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police for people-oriented and community-based policing.

CP Kankarofi reassured the people of Kogi State of the Command's commitment to sustaining proactive security measures and urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information, assuring that all information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
