Former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, has extended a gesture of goodwill to Christian groups and communities in the state, distributing food items, livestock, and cash to support their 2025 Christmas celebrations.
The donation, which included 310 bags of 50kg rice, 16 cows, and ₦1 million cash, was spread across the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), APC Igbo and Yoruba wings, as well as Igbo and Yoruba communities in Zamfara. Senator Yari used the occasion to call on Christians in the state to pray for peace, security, and development in Zamfara State and Nigeria.
Afolabi Tajuddeen Azeez, Chairman of CAN in Zamfara State, expressed gratitude for the donation, saying, "We appreciate this generous gesture and assure you that the items will be distributed fairly among Christian faithful across the state." He added, "We will continue to pray for peace and security in Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole."
Chairman of APC Igbo Wing in Zamfara, Emmanuel Anokwuru, described the donation as "a demonstration of Senator Yari's commitment to the welfare of all Zamfara citizens, regardless of their faith or ethnicity." Engr. Joshua Tauwo, Chairman of the Yoruba Christian Community, echoed this sentiment, calling the gesture "timely, humanitarian, and a huge relief to Christians in the state."
Alhaji Sani Garba, representing Senator Yari at the event, said the donation was part of an annual tradition aimed at spreading joy during the festive period. "The senator believes in the importance of sharing and caring for others, especially during this time," Garba said, stressing the need for transparency and fairness in the distribution of the items.
The event was attended by Alhaji Abdullahi Ja'o, representing the Chairman of the AA Yari Political Organisation, Dr. Lawal M. Liman, alongside other officials.
