Tinubu Immortalised Late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Renames Azare Federal University After Him

The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has immortalized the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi with the renaming of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Azare after him.

Tinubu described the late Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi as a renowned scholar, and a Nigeria's conscience that worked so hard on the part of Almighty Allah. 
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu noted that the late Sheikh has positively impacted knowledge to people of the state and Nigerian citizens generally.

He explained that the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi embodied the value of knowledge, value of knowledge and honesty and integrity and a great character.

The President was Saturday condoling the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, Bauchi state government and the people of the state generally over the demise of the renowned Islamic scholar.

He said, "It's a big day today to be able to Condole all of you, the family of the deceased, the state government, the people of Bauchi and the entire citizens of the country".
Tinubu, who noted that the late Sheikh is kind to every person, loved Nigeria as a country, saying "We all came from the Almighty Allah and to Him we should all return".

The President urged the Ummah to continue to pray for the peace, stability, economic prosperity and development of the country, and live with the values the deceased left behind, and prayed Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who earlier received Mr. President and his encouragement at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi commended him for delegating earlier a federal government team to observe the three-day prayers of the deceased.

Governor Bala told Mr President "You see APC family has not let us down, you see from the airport coming down you see the tumultuous reception for the solemn occasion He said, "It's a big day today to be able to Condole all of you, the family of the deceased, the state government, the people of Bauchi and the entire citizens of the country."

Mr President was received on behalf of the 820-member family, the successor of the late cleric, Khalifa Sheikh Ibrahim Shaykh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, commended the President for the visit. 

A formal message from the family, read by Dr. Bashir Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for personally visiting the family and for earlier delegating top government officials to represent him during the funeral and burial rites on Friday, 28 November 2025.

"All 820 family members of Shaykh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, OFR, his 82 surviving children, and his more than 63 million followers, disciples, students, devotees, adherents, and lovers sincerely welcome you and appreciate your unswerving loyalty and compassion in this moment of grief," they told President

The deceased died at the age of 101 years leaving behind 100 children 50 males and 50 females, out of whom 82 are alive, 512 grandchildren and 206 great-grandchildren.

President Tinubu was warmly received on arrival at the by the State Governor, Bala Mohammed, alongside his Plateau State counterpart, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, ministers, and other top government officials present at the airport.

Among the ministers received Mr. President were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, and former governor Mallam Isa Yuguda, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara who joined other dignitaries.

Members of the presidential entourage included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, the President’s son, Seyi Bola Tinubu, among other prominent personalities.
