The Kebbi State Government has categorically refuted a social media rumor about an alleged clandestine airstrip in Argungu Forest, purportedly used for illicit activities. In an official statement, the government branded the claims as "baseless, concocted, and maliciously designed to undermine the state's reputation."
The government underscored the absence of any evidence supporting the existence of such an airstrip or any related illicit activities in Argungu or elsewhere in the state. "The Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi remains the only functional airport in Kebbi State," the statement clarified. "There are no airports, airstrips, or related infrastructure in Argungu, and none have ever existed."
Expressing concern over the deliberate dissemination of false information aimed at sparking public anxiety, the Kebbi State Government urged citizens to disregard the fabricated narrative entirely. The government reaffirmed its commitment to upholding peace, lawfulness, and transparency, while collaborating with federal agencies to ensure security and good governance under the leadership of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu.
The statement, signed by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, reiterated the government's dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the state. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities and beware of the consequences of spreading false information.
