"Emir of Argungu Vows to Make 2026 Fishing Festival Unforgettable, Says Preparations Are Underway"

The Emir of Argungu and Deputy Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Sama'ila Muhammadu Mera, has expressed determination to make the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival the biggest event of its kind ever held. The monarch made this assertion when he led a large crowd of people to pay homage to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

Alhaji Sama'ila Mera was accompanied by traditional title holders, district and village heads, leaders of various associations, and groups to reaffirm loyalty, solidarity, and support to the Governor. "Already, your Excellency, with your support and permission, we've swung into action preparing the ground for this massive international event, second-to-none in sub-Saharan Africa," he said.

The Emir also informed the Governor that he had allocated a plot and signed for the commencement of work on the Agricultural Hub to be established by the government in Argungu. "We're sincerely thankful to you and Mr. President for this important project which would boost agricultural and economic prosperity of our land, drawing people from all parts of Nigeria," he added.
In response, Governor Nasir Idris thanked the Argungu Monarch and the people of the Emirate for their unwavering support and loyalty to him and the administration. "Your Royal Highness, you've been consistent in your support and cooperation to me, it behoves on me to sustain projects execution already ongoing in your domain and add more," he said.

The Governor assured the Emir that the government would render all necessary assistance to make the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival a huge success. "There's no going back in staging the festival already approved by me. I will ensure that it becomes a global tourists' attraction," he remarked.

The Governor's commitment to the festival's success has boosted the confidence of the Argungu people, who are eager to showcase their rich cultural heritage and hospitality to the world. The festival is expected to attract tourists and investors from across the globe, promoting economic growth and development in the region.
