2026 HAJJ: Former CG NCS Ahmed Jafar Jega Appointed Kebbi Amirul Hajj

Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria, April 17, 2026(Series News Online)- Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the formation of the State Government Delegation for the 2026 Hajj exercise, with Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega appointed as Chairman and Amirul Hajj.  

The approval was conveyed in a letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, dated April 9, 2026. The letter authorised the establishment of the delegation to oversee and coordinate all Hajj operations for the state.  
The 19-member delegation comprises senior government officials, traditional title holders, and key stakeholders drawn from across Kebbi State.  

The delegation is mandated to ensure effective coordination of all Hajj-related activities, liaise with relevant agencies, and safeguard the welfare of Kebbi pilgrims throughout the exercise.  

According to its terms of reference, the committee will ensure compliance with all agreements between the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, and airline operators. It will also liaise with the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency on all matters relating to Hajj operations and supervise the overall conduct of the 2026 Hajj with a view to advising the government on improved future operations.  
Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega will serve as Chairman and Amirul Hajj, while Sahabi Boyi Gemu has been appointed Secretary of the delegation.  

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the delegation, Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega, a former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, undertook an inspection visit to the Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.  

He was conducted round the facility by the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruku Musa Yaro, Enabo, to assess the level of preparedness ahead of the exercise.  
Alhaji Jega expressed satisfaction with the state of the facilities and the level of preparedness by the Pilgrims Welfare Agency.  

He commended the leadership of Alhaji Faruku Musa Yaro for the commitment shown in ensuring a hitch-free Hajj operation. “The arrangements on ground reflect a strong readiness to deliver a successful exercise,” he said.  

He also conveyed his appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for the confidence reposed in him and members of the delegation.  
He assured that the committee would work diligently to justify the trust placed in them and ensure a smooth and successful 2026 Hajj exercise for all pilgrims from Kebbi State.
