Kebbi State Governor Signs N75,000 Minimum Wage into Law

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has signed a new minimum wage of N75,000 into law,  benefiting workers in the state. This development follows a jointly compiled report between state government representatives and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), reaching an agreement on the salary table.

The report was presented to the governor by Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, Secretary to the Kebbi State Government and leader of the minimum wage committee set up by the state government.

Governor Idris directed labour leaders to obtain the new minimum wage salary table from the national level to prevent disagreements between the state and union leaderships. Kebbi aimed to be the first state to implement the minimum wage.

The signing into law was witnessed by national NLC leaders, other union leaders, and state branch leaders.

The National President of the NLC commended Governor Nasir Idris for signing the new minimum wage salary for Kebbi State workers, expressing joy and satisfaction with the governor's commitment.

"Everybody who knows how Kebbi State was and now will attest that Kebbi State has been transformed to a new, befitting face, thanks to Governor Dr. Nasir Idris's tremendous efforts. He has proven himself as a labour leader."

The NLC President urged other state governors to visit Kebbi and emulate Governor Idris's initiatives, while calling on governors yet to implement the new minimum wage to expedite the process.

"We've received positive reports from Kebbi about Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris's successes. We're proud of you and impressed with your work for the people of Kebbi State. Rest assured, labour will continue to support you in achieving greatness for your people and the country."
