"NANS Inaugurates NUKESS New Leadership, Governor Nasir Pledges Support for Student Welfare"

In a landmark initiative aimed at fortifying student leadership and advocacy, the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olusola Oladoja, formally installed the newly elected officials of the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS) on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony, conducted in Birnin Kebbi, drew notable personalities from student affairs and higher education sectors.

The NANS President, Comrade Olusola Oladoja, oversaw the inauguration of the new NUKESS leadership alongside Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Comrade Asefor Sunday Dayo , and the Governor's Special Assistant on Student Matters, Comrade Muhammad Muhammad Majo. In his introductory remarks, Comrade Majo emphasized the significance of youth leadership and the growing responsibility of student bodies in shaping the nation's future trajectory. He declared, "Student organizations must now transform into centres of innovation, discipline, and purpose, with NUKESS setting the pace." He conveyed appreciation to Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, for his unwavering support and commitment to the welfare of Kebbi State students across the nation.

 The Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Asefor Sunday Dayo, also addressed the gathering, commending Kebbi State students for their unity and proactive participation in national student affairs. He exhorted the incoming executives to prioritize advocacy, inclusiveness, and transparency throughout their tenure.

Underscoring the government's dedication to education, the Honourable Commissioner for Higher  Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga , representing the Executive Governor, reaffirmed Governor Idris's "unequivocal commitment" to student welfare, educational reforms, and youth empowerment statewide. The Commissioner stated, "The Governor acknowledges the pivotal role of students in our developmental agenda. Kebbi State remains resolutely committed to providing an enabling academic environment, scholarship assistance, and opportunities for scholarly excellence." He also cited the recent distribution of  books, Tablets among other materials that worths 3.2 billion naira to schools across the state.  

Series News Online reports that the newly appointed NUKESS executives include Ahijo Saidu Bakwai  as President from Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK); Bilkisu Malami Isah, Vice President 1, from Sajo College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi; Musa Muhammad Musa, Vice President 2, from KSUSTA; Muhammad Abdullahi Kwazo, Secretary General, from Sokoto State University; and Yakubu Isah Tsamiya, Assistant Secretary, from KBCONS.

 Other pivotal officeholders encompass Aliyu Sani, Treasurer, from Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi; Fauziya Musa Koko, Director of Women's Affairs, from Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK); Yusuf Ibrahim Bagudu, Financial Secretary, from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto; and Lukman Usman, Welfare Director, from Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari.

 The new President, Comrade Ahijo Saidu Bakwai, a 400-level student at Federal University Birnin Kebbi, delivered an acceptance address on behalf of his team, promising to serve with assiduity, integrity, and a deep sense of duty. The new leadership pledged to foster unity among Kebbi students, broaden welfare programs, and cooperate with relevant stakeholders to enhance student development.
