The Concerned Citizen Teachers Group in Bauchi State has formally endorsed Hon. Farouk Mustapha, the State Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship elections. This announcement was made during a meeting with members of the group from all 20 local government areas of the state on Sunday.
Abubakar Umar, Chairman of the Concerned Citizen Teachers Group, stated that the group believes Hon. Farouk Mustapha is the most qualified candidate to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed. "Of all those being considered for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship, none matches Hon. Farouk Mustapha in terms of competence, credibility, and commitment to the people," Umar said.
Umar further described Farouk Mustapha as a loyal and dedicated leader who has remained committed to the ideals of development and good governance. He urged Governor Bala Mohammed to support Farouk Mustapha in securing the gubernatorial ticket under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that Farouk's experience, integrity, and loyalty make him the ideal successor to consolidate the achievements of the current administration.
According to Umar, Farouk Mustapha played a vital role in the last election, serving as the campaign director for Governor Bala Mohammed in the 2023 general elections. Umar added, "We have studied the political terrain and believe Farouk Mustapha is honest, courageous, and deeply connected to the grassroots. He understands the values and dignity of our people."
The Concerned Citizen Teachers Group has appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to support Farouk Mustapha's ambition, stressing that the commissioner is the most qualified to sustain and expand the developmental strides of the current government. The group, which includes teachers, community leaders, parents, and other key stakeholders, has pledged its full commitment to campaigning and canvassing for votes across the state to realize his ambition.
"We are hopeful that he will heed our call, and we stand ready to support him all the way," Umar concluded.
