In a groundbreaking move to enhance basic education, the Kebbi State Government has appointed and inaugurated Professors to chair Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs). Each Professor, with a unique specialty, was selected from his local government of origin to lead the LGEA for optimal results.
At the inauguration ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris urged the Professors to leverage their expertise and experience. He stated, "We selected you each from the 21 local government areas of Kebbi based on track record and merit." He added, "The government has seen wisdom in this arrangement from your previous performance as Chairmen of LGEAs."
Governor Idris emphasized the administration's focus on quality education, saying, "Quality education is the ultimate target of the administration from basic level upward; as Academics, we look up to you for the attainment of this objective." To support this goal, the Governor distributed books procured by the government to schools and presented computer tablets to teachers as instructional materials to enhance teaching and learning.
Furthermore, motorcycles were distributed to facilitate the movement of teachers to schools, particularly those in challenging terrain. Professor Abubakar Bagudo, Chairman of Bagudo LGEA, on behalf of his colleagues, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve the state. He said, "Thank you for affording us another opportunity to serve the state by dispensing knowledge beneficial for educational development and societal growth."
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, and the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Suleiman Khalid Jega, commended the incumbent administration of Governor Nasir Idris for various infrastructural developments, provision of furniture, and necessary facilities and equipment to schools, which have led to significant improvements in the education sector.
