Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU) has recorded a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence, with the National Universities Commission (NUC) granting full accreditation to 17 academic programmes. The accredited courses span various faculties and departments, including Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Agriculture, Arabic, Human Physiology, Public Health, Anatomy, Law, Pharm D, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Science Laboratory Technology, and Zoology.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, hailed the development as a crucial step in achieving the university's vision of academic excellence and nation-building. She extended heartfelt appreciation to the state Governor and Visitor to the University, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his steadfast support and commitment to SAZU's growth.

According to the University spokesperson, Mr. Auwal Hassan, the accreditation affirms SAZU's commitment to providing quality education across a diverse range of disciplines. "With this approval, SAZU is now better positioned to compete with other leading universities across Nigeria," Auwal stated. The institution reaffirmed its dedication to producing graduates equipped to drive societal progress through innovation, knowledge, and service.

The NUC's accreditation panel visited the university on November 22, 2024, as part of its October/November 2024 accreditation exercise. In a letter dated April 30, 2025, the Executive Secretary of the NUC confirmed that the accreditation complies with Section 10(1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, which mandates the NUC to set and enforce minimum academic standards for programmes offered in Nigerian universities.

This achievement is a testament to SAZU's commitment to academic excellence and its determination to produce high-quality graduates who can make a positive impact in society.
