"Renewed Support: Kebbi Stakeholders Back Tinubu, Governor Idris for Continuity"
By Umar Faruk, Birnin Kebbi
A gathering of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has reaffirmed their loyalty and cooperation to the ruling party at both state and national levels. The event, which took place at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, saw former civilian governors of Kebbi State, including Sen. Muhammad Adamu Alieru, Sa'idu Usman Dakingari, and Sen. Atiku Bagudu, express their renewed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris.
Sen. Alieru, who mounted the rostrum alongside two other senators who defected to the APC from the PDP, Sen. Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi and Sen. Garba Musa Maidoki, voiced out unshakable support for the duo. "My defection to the APC is to facilitate development under our leader, President Tinubu at the federal level and in Kebbi under Governor Nasir Idris," he said. "I am a staunch supporter of President Tinubu, and entreaties were made to me in good faith to return to the APC to join hands in accelerating the pace of development and growth which tallied with my penchant to serve our people," Alieru emphasized.
Governor Nasir Idris, who inaugurated the Tinubu/Kaura 2 Times Committee under the Chairmanship of the Managing Director, Rima River Basin Development Authority, and retired Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Abubakar Gari Mallam, highlighted the essence of governance. "The essence of governance is the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the citizenry," he said. "President Tinubu has been magnanimous to Kebbi in delivering such dividends to the state, which reinforced our belief that he's the right person to continue to steer the affairs of our dear nation."
The governor expressed gratitude for the massive support shown to him by the people of Kebbi and assured that his administration's record of achievements would be sustained. "The record of achievements of my administration is indelible, we've impacted positively on all sectors which shall be sustained," he said. "We shall examine areas where mistakes were made and make necessary corrections."
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, commended Governor Nasir Idris for facilitating federal presence in Kebbi, saying the governor had endeared himself to the president for the benefit of the state's people. He urged the people to redouble their support for President Tinubu in subsequent polls. "Kebbi gave Tinubu massive support in the 2023 elections, and we should become the pillar of Tinubu's support with attendant reciprocal gesture of development projects," he said.
The Kebbi APC Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru, admonished members of the National and State Assemblies from Kebbi, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen, and other public office holders to provide necessary material and financial support to their communities or risk replacement.
