The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Umar Yusuf and Dalhatu Aminu, for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle in Shanga. The suspects were arrested on May 19, 2025, at about 4:30 pm, by a combined team of policemen and vigilantes while on routine patrol along Shanga/Dugu road.

The suspects were intercepted while driving an unregistered Peugeot 206 motor vehicle, which was suspected to be stolen. When questioned, they attempted to flee but were pursued and arrested. During interrogation, they confessed to deceiving the vehicle's owner in Birnin Kebbi that they wanted to buy the vehicle, but instead made away with it.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, commended the bravery and professionalism displayed by the combined team of security personnel. "The Command is ready to rid Kebbi State of all forms of crimes," he said. He also urged the police to always be vigilant while on duty.

CP Bello M Sani equally advised motor vehicle dealers and sellers to be wary of customers with dubious intentions. "Motor vehicle dealers and sellers should be cautious of some of their customers who may have ulterior motives," he said.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation with a view to unravel the suspects' modus operandi and arrest the remaining gang members for prosecution.

The police command's swift action has brought hope to the people of Kebbi State that their security concerns are being addressed. The command's commitment to ridding the state of all forms of crimes is evident in their efforts to apprehend suspects and bring them to justice.
