Two years ago, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, emerged as the sixth democratically elected Governor of Kebbi State, marking a new era of transformative progress across all sectors of the economy. His rise to leadership was not without challenges, but through divine will and the people's mandate, he triumphed against all odds.
As a seasoned politician and trade unionist, Governor Idris has brought his critical leadership skills to bear on the governance of the state. "His emergence was a divine intervention, chosen to transform the narrative of the state from a past of stagnant development to one of transformative progress," the report notes.
Under his leadership, Kebbi State has witnessed unprecedented development, with numerous infrastructural projects executed under the Ministry of Works. The transformation of the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, includes the construction of three-lane roads, drainages, solar street lights, pavements, and roundabouts. "In just two years, his administration spent over N79 billion on capital projects in 2024 alone, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to development," the report highlights.
The Governor's compassion and benevolence have also endeared him to the people. "He is known for his compassion, uncommon generosity, humility, and glaring kindness," the report notes. His philanthropic gestures have cut across all boundaries, helping individuals, groups, associations, and communities alike.
Some of the standout projects executed by the Governor include the comprehensive remodeling of Birnin Kebbi, completion of the ultra-modern Secretariat Complex at Gwadangaji, construction of a modern Central Motor Park, and building of mega schools across the four Emirates of the state. "These projects have made Dr. Nasir Idris the most loved and high-performing Governor in Kebbi State and indeed Nigeria," the report concludes.
