The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTER) has called on the Bauchi State Government to ensure the immediate implementation of financial benefits, including health and hazard salary structures, for all staff of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSUWSC).
The National President of AUPCTER, Comrade Benjamin Anthony, made the appeal during a condolence visit to the families of four BSUWSC staff who tragically lost their lives during routine maintenance work at the Gubi Dam Water Treatment Plant. "The welfare of water corporation workers remains a top priority for the Union," Comrade Anthony emphasized.
He pledged that AUPCTER would intensify efforts to ensure the prompt implementation of all pending financial entitlements. "We will not relent in our efforts to advocate for the rights and welfare of our members," he said.
During his visit, Comrade Anthony expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Bauchi State Government, the management of the Water Corporation, and the entire workforce. The Union also provided financial assistance to the families of the deceased to support them during this difficult time.
Comrade Anthony also inspected the newly installed 7.5 MVA transformer at the Gubi Dam Water Treatment Plant, where he commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his administration's commitment to enhancing water infrastructure and ensuring a reliable water supply across the state.
The Union reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of its members, promising continued efforts to improve working conditions and benefits for all. Comrade Anthony also used the opportunity to extend condolences to AUPCTER's National Deputy President, Comrade Marafa, over the recent loss of his 17-year-old son.
The Bauchi State Chairman of AUPCTER, Comrade Umar Adamu Jibrin, praised Comrade Benjamin Anthony for his compassionate visit and for standing firmly with the members during their time of grief. "Your visit is a testament to your leadership and commitment to the welfare of our members," he said.
