The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that corps members will begin receiving a new monthly allowance of N77,000 starting in March 2025. This announcement was made by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, while addressing corps members serving in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the NYSC Zonal Office in Wuse Zone 3 and the Old Parade Ground in Garki, Abuja.

According to Nafiu, the Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the necessary funds are ready for disbursement. He attributed the delay in implementing the new allowance to the late signing of the 2025 Appropriation Bill. "With effect from March, you are going to receive the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance. NYSC is good at record keeping and I can assure you that your money will be paid. The Nation and the Scheme appreciate you," Nafiu said.

The NYSC DG commended corps members for upholding the founding ideals of the scheme by promoting national unity, integration, and development. He also encouraged them to embrace the values expressed in the NYSC anthem. Additionally, Nafiu urged corps members to utilize all available communication channels provided by the scheme to voice complaints or suggestions that could enhance NYSC operations.

Corps Member Zaka Deborah Alheri, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues at Garki Zone, lauded the Director-General for his conscientious efforts towards the payment of their increased monthly allowance.
