Coalition Slams NANS for Politicizing Seyi Tinubu's Philanthropic Efforts

A Coalition of Nigerian students (CNG) has strongly condemned the National Association of Nigerian students (NANS) for its misleading statement against Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, describing it as a politically influenced attack. The coalition argued that NANS' attempt to twist remarks on Seyi Tinubu's philanthropic efforts is an intentional misrepresentation designed to mislead the public.

According to the coalition, Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed raised a valid concern that governance should not be replaced by politically motivated handouts, emphasizing that Nigeria's youth need sustainable solutions, not temporary distractions. The coalition's Northeast Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Saleh Ibrahim Saleh, stated, "Philanthropy should complement governance, but not substitute it."

Comrade Saleh criticized NANS for applauding Seyi Tinubu's distribution of cooked food to hungry citizens, describing it as a ridiculous and failed attempt at philanthropy. He emphasized that true philanthropy should aim to build capacity, provide long-term support, and uplift communities permanently.

The coalition highlighted Governor Bala Mohammed's administration's achievements in youth empowerment, citing investments in ICT development, innovation hubs, and business incubation centers. Comrade Saleh stated, "Over 20,000 youths have benefited from economic empowerment programs, including vocational training and business startup capital."

The CNG questioned NANS' silence on critical issues affecting Nigerian students, such as the ASUU strike, increased tuition fees, and unemployment. The coalition challenged NANS to redirect its energy towards fighting for the interests of Nigerian students rather than acting as a public relations unit for political figures.

Comrade Saleh emphasized, "The youth of Nigeria need business opportunities, education, and employment, not temporary publicity stunts disguised as charity." The coalition stands firm with Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed and rejects the false narratives being pushed by NANS, stressing that it is time for real youth empowerment.
