The Bauchi Emirate Council has made a U-turn on its earlier decision to postpone the 2025 Sallah Durbar festival, announcing that the event will now hold as planned. This reversal comes after the council's initial announcement to postpone the festival was met with public criticism on social media platforms.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Bauchi Emirate Council, Shehu Mudi Muhammad, "The Bauchi Emirate Council is pleased to inform the public that the 2025 Sallah Durbar Festival will now be held as planned." The statement further revealed that Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had given his approval for the event to proceed after careful consideration and consultation with the Bauchi State Government.
Mudi Muhammad emphasized the significance of the Sallah Durbar Festival, stating, "The Sallah Durbar Festival is a vital part of our cultural heritage, and we are excited to welcome residents, visitors, and tourists to partake in the festivities." He added that further details regarding the schedule and arrangements of the planned Durbar will soon be communicated to the public.
