The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, visited the scene of a fatal accident along Hassan Katsina road in Lokoja on Tuesday. The accident involved a truck carrying animals, goods, and passengers from Bauchi to Enugu.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Deputy Governor Salifu immediately arrived at the scene to assess the situation and brief Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on the necessary actions to take. While speaking at the scene, Salifu expressed his sadness over the loss of six lives and the injury of 60 passengers, praying for eternal rest for the departed souls.
Salifu assured the victims and their families that the government would provide proper medical care for the wounded, directing that they be taken to the state specialist hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital. He commended the officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the State Emergency Management Agency for their prompt response to the incident.
The Deputy Governor also advised drivers and motorists to avoid over-speeding and to regularly inspect their vehicles for road worthiness before embarking on trips. This visit demonstrates the Kogi State government's commitment to the welfare and safety of its citizens.
