Bafarawa Dumps PDP, Sets Sight on Youth Empowerment"

Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, a former Governor of Sokoto State, has announced his resignation from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) effective Tuesday, January 14. In a letter copied to the PDP Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Bafarawa explained that his decision was motivated by a desire to focus on youth empowerment and development.

According to Bafarawa, his commitment to a new youth movement, which aims to inspire, empower, and transform the lives of young Nigerians, necessitated his resignation from the PDP. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had to contribute to the party and its ideals, commending the leadership and members for their efforts to promote democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

Reacting to Bafarawa's resignation, Yusuf Dingyadi, Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman of the PDP, described the development as "painful" and not a cause for celebration. Dingyadi noted that the party was in the process of reconciliation and forgiveness, and that Bafarawa's departure could hinder these efforts.
