The Federal Ministry of Works has responded to allegations of neglecting the Northern Region in the distribution of ongoing Renewed Hope Agenda road projects. The Ministry asserts that it has worked diligently, transparently, and fairly in implementing road and bridge infrastructure interventions nationwide.
According to the Ministry, the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr.) Nweze David Umahi, has enhanced project monitoring and supervision mechanisms across the six geopolitical zones. Facts and figures show Legacy Projects Out of 2,735km, the North has 1,414km, while the South has 1,321km (52:48 ratio).
Sukuk -funded Projects, The North has 45 projects, while the South has 37. Emergency Projects: 98 projects are in the South, while 108 are in the North. Road Tax Credit Scheme 23 projects are in the North, while 21 are in the South.
The Ministry cited recent Federal Executive Council approvals, including: Kebbi and Sokoto States, 258 km 3- lane carriageway construction. Rivers State, Bodo-Bonny Road completion. Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual carriageway rehabilitation .
The Ministry has achieved significant milestones in critical projects in the North, including: Mararaba- Keffi Road Construction and expansion of Lafia Bypass Construction, Abuja- Abaji- Lokoja Road Rehabilitation.
Equally, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to fairness, justice, equity, and good conscience in road infrastructure project distribution and execution.
