Niger State Government has received 50 motorcycles and 3 pickup trucks donated by the Global Fund in collaboration with the Federal Government to combat Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Malaria, and HIV.
Governor Umaru Bago received the donation at Government House, Minna, expressing gratitude to the Federal Government and Global Fund. The pickup trucks will be allocated to Programme Officers for Malaria, Tuberculosis/Leprosy, and HIV, while each of the 25 Local Government Areas will receive two motorcycles for Health Field workers.
Governor Bago assured that his administration prioritizes citizens' health, disclosing plans to use drones to supply drugs to flood-prone and hard-to-reach areas. Health workers will be trained to operate the drones, with some sent abroad for retraining.
Commissioner for Tertiary Health, Dr. Tukur Bello, acknowledged development partners' support, citing Niger State's timely payment of counterpart funds.
"This donation aims to enhance healthcare delivery in Niger State", He said.
