Kebbi Governor Credits Ex-NBA President Y.C. Mai-Kyau for Integral Role in His Political History During Meeting with CAN

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Yakubu Chinoko Mai-Kyau, SAN, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), for his instrumental role in securing his election victory.

He made the assertion while receiving a delegation from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris acknowledged Mai-Kyau's unwavering support throughout his election tribunal battles.


Mai-Kyau, who served as Governor Idris' personal lawyer, set a significant precedent in election tribunal records in 2023. The governor emphasized his administration's commitment to inclusivity, ensuring equal treatment for all citizens, regardless of their religion, tribe, or language.

During the meeting, Governor Nasir Idris welcomed feedback, complaints, and advice from CAN members, promising to address their concerns promptly. He also expressed gratitude for their prayers during his campaign and pledged to reciprocate their support.

This development comes after Nigeria's 2023 general elections, which saw numerous petitions filed with election tribunals across the country, with at least 327 petitions reported.
